Fundraising
Nothing the club does happens without the money to do it. Last year our members raised over £7,700 through sleigh rounds in the cold, raffles at market stalls, tombolas at county fairs, and a great deal of standing in supermarket doorways with a bucket. All of it goes to the Rotary Club of Stevenage Grange Charitable Trust, Registered Charity No. 1032625, and out again to causes in Stevenage and beyond. Every penny raised is given away. None of it pays for us.
The Christmas Sleigh
Our biggest single fundraiser and the one Stevenage knows us by. Members take the illuminated sleigh around the town’s streets through December, and last year it raised nearly £2,900. It is cold, it is long, and it is the best thing we do all year.
Raffles and Tombolas
Raffles raise over £2,000 a year for us. Our Easter egg raffle alone brought in £1,000, of which £800 went straight to Stevenage Age Concern. We run further draws through the summer and autumn, and you will find our tombola at county fairs and local events.
Out and About in Stevenage
You will find us at Stevenage Market, at Stevenage Day on the King George V Playing Fields, at the Whitwell Steam and County Fair, and outside supermarkets across the town with a lucky dip and a smile. Our Food Shed collections gather boxes of food and cereal for local families alongside cash donations.
Christmas Cards, Poppies and the Gala Ball
Christmas card and poppy sales, together with other donations, brought in over £1,600 last year. Our Gala Ball each November is the club’s social high point and turns a profit for the Trust besides.
